The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to support major nuclear construction activities, contributing expert oversight across a wide range of technical topics. This role gives you the chance to influence critical engineering decisions, strengthen project delivery, and support the resolution of complex, cross?discipline issues on a nationally significant programme.

Lead Mechanical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Systems Engineer, Mechanical Technical Authority, Nuclear Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Engineering Lead, Project Mechanical Engineer, Safety Case Engineer, or Mechanical Consultant.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Building strong, long-term working relationships across technical, operational, and project delivery teams while supporting collaboration with contractors and wider stakeholders.
Working closely with operational teams to address technical challenges, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
Producing engineering reviews and technical justification documents to support sound decision-making across the project.
Maintaining oversight of design changes to safeguard nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, and alignment with project requirements.
Identifying opportunities for innovation and improvements that enhance safety, quality, and the overall engineering delivery.You will have the following qualifications and experience
A degree in engineering (or an equivalent qualification) with strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Proven experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders in technically complex environments.
A solid understanding of how mechanical systems interact with civil structures within major infrastructure projects.
Previous hands-on experience in site-based engineering, ideally involving fabrication or welding environments.
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it), ideally with previous involvement in nuclear, safety case development, or regulated environments.Get in touch now
