We are looking for a proactive and technically capable Building Services Engineer to join our Technical/Design Team. This is a cross-functional role that will support the Estimating, Operations, and Commercial teams by developing coordinated design solutions, assisting with tender reviews, and supporting live project delivery.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical building services, though we welcome applications from individuals with a bias towards one area who are willing to broaden their knowledge across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development, coordination, and review of M&E technical designs and specifications. Provide design support to the Estimating Team during pre-construction and tendering phases. Work alongside the Operations Team to resolve technical queries and ensure seamless design-to-installation transition. Support the Commercial Team with technical input for procurement and value engineering exercises. Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings with internal stakeholders and external consultants. Conduct site surveys and provide input for condition assessments and buildability reviews. Ensure all designs are compliant with current regulations, standards, and client requirements.
Candidate Profile
HNC/Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline). Experience in a building services contracting or design environment. Strong understanding of either mechanical (HVAC, domestic water, gas, etc.) or electrical (LV distribution, lighting, containment, etc.) systems — with a willingness to develop cross-disciplinary expertise. Familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM tools (Revit ). Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE standards. Effective communicator with an ability to collaborate across departments.
