The Role & Key Responsibilities Job Title: Technical Architect Location: Peterborough - Hybrid Permanent 37.5 hours per week – Typical working days and hours – Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00 – We have a flexible approach ensuring a healthy work‑life balance. We’re looking for a talented Technical Architect to join our growing and evolving Architecture function. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and delivering infrastructure modernisation initiatives across BTS and its supported business units, working closely with cross‑functional teams to design robust, cloud‑centric solutions that support global operations and long‑term technology strategy. What You’ll Be Doing
Designing end‑to‑end technical architecture solutions with a strong focus on cloud (Azure IaaS & PaaS) and infrastructure modernisation Leading the design and migration of legacy environments to cloud‑centric models, including Active Directory, M365, and business‑critical applications Collaborating with business stakeholders, project managers, and IT teams to translate requirements into scalable and secure technical designs Ensuring all solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, governance, and best practice (security, integration, resilience, cost) Producing high‑quality architecture documentation, including designs, roadmaps, and supporting materials for governance and delivery Overseeing implementation to ensure solutions are delivered in line with approved designs and architectural principles Supporting RFI/RFP processes, including documentation, vendor engagement and solution evaluation Working closely with wider BTS architecture and product teams to drive the infrastructure modernisation strategy and continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience as a Technical Architect, with a strong focus on infrastructure and cloud Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure (IaaS & PaaS), including designing and delivering cloud migration strategies Hands‑on experience migrating Active Directory domains, tenants, M365 environments, and enterprise applications Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture (compute, networking, storage, virtual and physical environments) Experience working within enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and governance models Knowledge of identity technologies including Azure AD and Office 365 Ability to design solutions that balance performance, scalability, security, cost and maintainability Experience working in complex, enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders and third‑party vendors Strong documentation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences Relevant degree or equivalent experience, with architecture‑related certifications or training (desirable) Exposure to wider cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), ITIL environments and enterprise applications (ERP, Data & Analytics, AI)
Location Hybrid, a mix of office and homeworking. This role will be based at our Peterborough offices on the Lynchwood Business Park.
