Job Description
Technical Architect
Start Date: ASAP (Early January possible)
Location: Canary Wharf – Hybrid (1–2 days per week onsite, remote otherwise)
Engagement: 4–6 months initially, with potential extension
Must hold SC Clearance
Interested candidates should be available to start ASAP or early January.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a front-line technical leader within the project team. Engage with senior stakeholders to influence technology decisions and ensure architectural integrity. Provide architectural recommendations and oversee implementation strategies. Contribute to solution design, documentation, and governance processes. Support data migration planning, integration, and interoperability considerations. Ensure compliance with security, resilience, and performance standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
5–8 years as a Solution or Technical Architect in complex digital or enterprise environments. Strong software engineering foundation with expertise in modern application architectures (microservices, APIs, distributed systems). Proficiency in architectural modelling techniques (C4, UML, data flow diagrams). Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (preferably AWS), including Infrastructure as Code, networking, and security. Deep understanding of secure system design, authentication patterns, and observability. Familiarity with such as Ruby, Python, or Java, and modern practices (CI/CD, TDD, containerisation). Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide technology decisions. Strong knowledge of data modelling, API design, and integration patterns. Excellent communication skills to simplify complex topics and build consensus.
Desirable Skills
Experience with ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle E-Business Suite). Knowledge of UK Government Digital Service standards and architecture frameworks. Understanding of Domain-Driven Design or event-driven architectures. Exposure to SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure architecture. Prior consultancy experience across multiple client environments.
