Role Overview:In this critical role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality fostering services, ensuring that the needs of children in care and foster families are effectively met. You will manage a team of social workers and support staff, promoting best practices in fostering, safeguarding, and child welfare.This position is ideal for a dedicated professional with substantial experience in fostering services and a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership and Management:Lead and manage the Fostering Team, ensuring effective service delivery in line with statutory regulations and local authority policies. Foster a positive team culture that promotes collaboration, professional development, and high standards of practice.Case Management Oversight:Monitor and review caseloads, ensuring that the needs of children are met and that care plans are implemented effectively. Provide guidance on complex cases, supporting social workers in their assessments and interventions.Quality Assurance and Improvement:Implement quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with local authority standards. Conduct audits, monitor performance indicators, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance service delivery.Supervision and Development of Staff:Provide regular supervision and support to team members, promoting reflective practice and identifying training needs. Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team.Build and maintain effective relationships with foster carers, children, families, and multi-agency partners. Collaborate with other agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Child-Centred Advocacy:Ensure that the voices and views of children and young people are central to all decision-making processes. Advocate for their rights and ensure that their needs are addressed within the fostering system.Crisis Management and Support:Lead the team in responding to urgent situations and crises involving children in care and foster placements. Assess risk factors and implement appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children.Administrative Duties:Oversee the completion of administrative tasks related to case management, ensuring that records are maintained accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements.Reporting and Evaluation:Prepare and present reports for senior management, detailing team performance, outcomes for children, and any challenges faced. Contribute to strategic planning and service development initiatives.Person Specification:Qualifications:A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree or Master’s in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work)Current Social Work England registrationAdditional qualifications in leadership or management, and training in fostering or child protection are desirableExperience:Substantial experience in children’s social care, particularly within fostering servicesExperience in a managerial or leadership role, including supervision of social workers and staffProven experience in case management, assessments, and intervention strategiesSkills and Knowledge:Strong knowledge of fostering legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and relevant statutory guidanceExcellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and professionalsAbility to manage multiple priorities and lead a team in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of trauma-informed practice and evidence-based interventions is desirableWhy Join?This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team and make a significant impact on the lives of children in care and foster families.
