About the Role As a Team Manager within the Children & Learning Service, you will lead the operational delivery of either education or social care services to achieve positive outcomes for children and families, including those with complex needs. You will ensure statutory responsibilities are met to a high standard, oversee planning and interventions, and create an environment that supports professional growth and reflective practice. This role requires strong leadership, systemic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively across multi‑agency networks to safeguard children and promote resilience, aspiration, and potential. We are currently seeking a committed and supportive person to continue to drive and develop support for our Care leavers in Southampton City Council. As Team Manager for the Care Leavers Service you will lead a dedicated team of Personal Advisors supporting young people making the transition from care to independent adulthood. This role is pivotal in ensuring that care leavers receive consistent, high‑quality support to achieve positive outcomes in education, employment, health, and wellbeing. Essential About you:
Proven leadership and management experience, including performance oversight and team development. Strong collaborative working skills with partner agencies. Experience in recruitment, supervision, and quality assurance processes. Ability to manage budgets and comply with financial policies. High level of IT literacy, including MS Office and digital platforms. Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
For Social Care Services
Social Work Degree or DIPSW and registration with Social Work England. Experience managing statutory social work teams and knowledge of contextual safeguarding and youth engagement models.
For Education Services
Degree‑level education (postgraduate qualifications desirable). In‑depth knowledge of statutory frameworks for education and the SEND Code of Practice.
What We Can Offer You Salary: The salary band for this role is £59,986 – £65,222 per annum. The starting salary is £59,986 with annual progression through the salary bands. Benefits include:
