The Opportunity


We’re looking for a Team Leader to head up our Birmingham office. This is a player/manager role: you’ll lead from the front with your own deal generation while managing and developing a team of brokers. You’ll be hands-on in driving performance, supporting growth, and creating a culture of energy, ambition, and accountability. You’ll be backed by our senior leadership and play a key part in Millbrook’s next phase of expansion.


Key Responsibilities - Sales & Deal Generation


  • Source and convert new funding opportunities with business owners across the UK
  • Structure tailored solutions across asset finance, loans, MCAs, refinance, and government-backed schemes
  • Manage the full deal process from first contact to lender drawdown
  • Build and manage introducer relationships (accountants, suppliers, manufacturers)
  • Stay sharp on lender products, criteria, and market changes
  • Accurately log deal progress and customer interactions in CRM
  • Consistently hit personal revenue targets while contributing to team performance


Key Responsibilities - Leadership & Team Management


  • Lead by example — setting the standard through personal performance
  • Coach, mentor, and support your team to exceed their targets
  • Review performance via regular 1:1s, team meetings, and structured reviews
  • Oversee pipeline progression and step in to resolve deal blockers
  • Collaborate with marketing to improve lead quality and conversion
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and broker development
  • Maintain high standards of compliance aligned with FCA requirements
  • Foster a performance culture built on accountability, energy, and ambition
  • Champion Millbrook’s values and help shape a winning team environment


What You’ll Need


  • 3+ years’ experience in commercial finance brokerage or lending
  • Proven success in a similar player/manager or senior broker role
  • Strong knowledge of business lending products: asset finance, loans, MCAs, refinance, etc.
  • Track record of outbound sales, lead conversion, and pipeline management
  • Confidence managing deals end-to-end with minimal support
  • Leadership qualities: coachable, inspiring, and commercially switched on
  • High energy, self-starting mentality with a drive to grow something bigger
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-handling skills
  • Familiarity with CRMs and a strong attention to detail
  • A genuine passion for supporting UK SMEs

The Interview Process


Stage One – Introductory Call - A brief, informal conversation to explore your background and interest in the role.


Stage Two – Face-to-Face Interview & Presentation - As part of the process, you’ll be asked to present how you would approach the role — including how you would:


• Build and grow a personal sales pipeline

• Lead from the front on deal generation

• Develop and manage a high-performing team

• Run your team as if it were your own business
