About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, supportive, and motivated KS2 Teaching Assistant to work across a range of primary schools in County Durham. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to support pupils in Years 3–6, working closely with class teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

Demand across Durham primary schools varies throughout the year, so we can offer flexible supply, long-term placements, and opportunities for ongoing work based on your experience and availability.

Key Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning across KS2 (Years 3–6). Deliver small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and preparation for SATs. Provide 1:1 support for pupils who may require additional guidance. Assist with classroom management and promote positive behaviour. Help prepare learning resources and contribute to the organisation of the classroom. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff. Adapt confidently to different school settings and year groups.

✅ Key Requirements

Ideally a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Experience working within KS2 or upper primary is highly desirable. Strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. Confident in supporting with English, maths, and SATs preparation. A positive, proactive approach and the ability to build good relationships with pupils. An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply). Flexibility to work across different primary schools in the Durham area.
