Teaching Assistant - EYFS SEN Support - Reception - Deptford

A supportive Primary School in Deptford, SE London is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their Reception team. This is a full-time Teaching Assistant role, starting January 2026 via Reeson Education, with the opportunity to go permanent in July.

The school is looking for a confident Teaching Assistant with strong EYFS experience, capable of supporting children with sensory needs and communication difficulties, including non-verbal pupils. You will deliver structured lessons, implement visual timetables, and support social, emotional, and academic development.

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting Reception children with SEN and sensory needs.

Providing 1:1 and small group support to non-verbal pupils.

Implementing visual timetables, sensory breaks, and communication strategies.

Supporting children's social, emotional, and academic progress.

Collaborating with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Assisting with daily classroom routines and learning activities as a Teaching Assistant.

Higher-level responsibilities (Mondays and Fridays - covering the class):

Delivering planned lessons across the Reception curriculum.

Leading the classroom in the absence of the class teacher.

Managing behaviour, routines, and learning as a Teaching Assistant with HLTA-style responsibilities.

Monitoring and assessing pupil progress during class cover.

Requirements for this Teaching Assistant role:

Experience as a Teaching Assistant in Early Years (EYFS).

SEN experience, including sensory needs and non-verbal pupils.

Calm, consistent, and confident approach.

Ability to take on higher-level responsibilities on Mondays and Fridays when covering the class.
