Teaching Assistant / Support Worker (SEMH) - Blackburn

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Salary: £92.89 - £115.89 per day (Depending on experience)

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Immediate Start)

Shifts: 07:30 - 14:30 OR 08:30 - 15:30

The Role

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can truly change a young person's life? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant or Support Worker to provide 1:1 support at a specialist SEMH School in Blackburn.

Whether you are qualified or unqualified, if you have a background in care, youth work, or education and a "can-do" attitude, we want to hear from you. You will be working with students who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them engage with learning and manage their wellbeing.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing tailored 1:1 support to a student within a classroom setting.
• Building a strong, trusting rapport to help reduce anxiety and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
• Assisting the Class Teacher with daily activities and progress tracking.
• Acting as a positive role model and mentor.

Who We Are Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience as a Support Worker, TA, or working with SEN/SEMH is a bonus, but not essential if you have the right transferable skills.
• Personality: Resilient, empathetic, and patient. You should be able to stay calm under pressure.
• Flexibility: Ability to commit to a consistent shift (either 7:30am or 8:30am start).
• Compliance: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
