The requirement
Schools in the Chester area are seeking qualified Teaching Assistants with specific experience supporting pupils with Autism and related needs. These are not general classroom support roles - they are targeted SEND positions.
Pupil needs you'll be supporting:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Sensory processing differences Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) Associated anxiety, emotional regulation, and social interaction needsExperience with visual timetables, structured routines, and de-escalation strategies is highly valued as a Teaching Assistant - ASD.
Your responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 or small-group autism support Follow and contribute to EHCP-led strategies Support transitions, engagement, and regulation Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Maintain a calm, predictable learning environmentEssential criteria:
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification Proven ASD/SEND experience in a school or specialist setting Confident understanding of autism-friendly practice Professional, reliable, and adaptable approachWhat schools are offering:
