This role involves working closely with children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in supporting children's development and possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents.ResponsibilitiesAssist teachers in delivering lesson plans and classroom activities tailored to individual student needsSupport students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilitiesProvide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to help students improve their academic performanceFoster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among all pupilsHelp manage behaviour and promote positive social interactions within the classroomSupport the organisation of learning materials and resources for lessonsMonitor student progress and report observations to teaching staffEngage in training programmes to enhance skills related to special education and working with diverse learnersSupport pupils with SEN in the classroom and small groups.Help teachers deliver inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs.Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs).Promote inclusion and a supportive learning environment.Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.RequirementsPrior experience working with children, particularly in educational or mentoring rolesKnowledge of special education principles and strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities or autismStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parentsPatience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting student developmentAbility to work collaboratively within a team environmentRelevant qualifications or training related to teaching assistance or special education are desirable but not essentialA genuine passion for fostering inclusive learning environments that support all learners' needsApprenticeship DetailsHours: (8.15am-3.4500pm) / Term time onlyDuration: Approximately 18 months with EPASalary: £8.00 per hour for the first 12 months (apprentice wage) and National Minimum Wage thereafter.Training Delivered By Best Practice Network no college attendance required; all learning completed online.Interviews will take place on Monday 30 AprilSafeguarding StatementThis authority/organisation is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, requiring all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment.As part of the safer recruitment, you will require an enhanced DBS.
