Location: Bridgwater, Somerset Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (Parental Leave Cover) Salary: Qualified Teachers' Pay Scale Start Date: May 2026 (until December 2026)

Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Bridgwater area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History for a fixed-term position covering parental leave.

The Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a strong understanding of the past.

This role would suit both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about History and committed to student progress.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential Assess, track, and support pupil progress effectively Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning Contribute positively to the wider Humanities department Support the academic and personal development of students

The Ideal Candidate

Holds a relevant degree in History Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History Is committed to high standards of teaching and learning Works well collaboratively as part of a team Is open to professional development and reflective practice
