English Teacher - Part Time (0.6 FTE)

Location: Taunton, Somerset Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Temporary - until Easter 2027 Pay: Main Teacher Pay Scale (MPS) Working Pattern: 3 days per week (0.6 FTE)

Prospero Teaching is working closely with a secondary school in Taunton who are seeking a qualified English Teacher to join their department on a part‑time basis (3 days per week / 0.6 FTE) from September until Easter.

This is a full class teacher role with full responsibility for planning, marking, and assessment, making it an excellent opportunity for an English specialist looking for a long‑term, part‑time position.

The Role:

Teaching English across KS3 and/or KS4 (depending on experience) Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum Full responsibility for marking, assessment, and pupil progress Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment Working collaboratively with the English department and wider school team

The Ideal Candidate:

Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent Is a specialist English Teacher with UK secondary teaching experience Can commit to 3 days per week (0.6 FTE) from September until Easter Demonstrates strong classroom management and subject knowledge Is organised, reliable, and confident taking on full teaching responsibilities
