Systems and Capital Accountant (Financial)
Organisation: North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC)
Location: Fully remote (equipment collection required from Whitwick Business Centre, LE67 4JP)
Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible hours available
Job Purpose
To lead on capital accounting and support the financial close of the 202526 accounts, taking primary responsibility for the capital element while supporting high-quality financial systems and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the Councils capital programme
Undertake capital accounting and support production of the Statement of Accounts
Administer financial systems and general ledger reporting
Lead insurance management (cover, claims, procurement)
Support Council Tax base and government returns
Provide financial advice and promote value for money
Maintain high standards of governance, health & safety, and equality
Requirements
Qualified/part-qualified accountant or significant relevant experience
Experience in capital accounting (local government/public sector desirable)
Strong financial systems and reporting knowledge
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
