Expleo is seeking a highly skilled Sustaining Engineer to support one of our premium automotive clients on a 12-month maternity cover contract. Based on-site in Gaydon, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to world-class engineering programmes while driving continuous improvement across products, processes, technology, and quality.About the RoleAs a Sustaining Engineer, you will play a key role in researching, developing, and preparing specifications that enhance existing and new products. You will identify opportunities for quality and cost improvements, evaluate and verify product concepts, and ensure all developments meet the highest reliability and performance standards.This is a Specialist Level role, suited to a recognised subject matter expert with advanced technical knowledge and strong experience within engineering development.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch, develop, and define specifications for improvements to products, processes, equipment, and technology.Identify and implement opportunities to enhance quality, reduce cost, and optimise performance.Evaluate, verify, and validate product concepts to ensure compliance with technical specifications and reliability requirements.Manage large, complex engineering projects with limited supervision.Provide coaching, guidance, and oversight to junior engineers and technical team members.Solve complex technical challenges requiring strong analytical thinking and expert judgement.About YouYou will thrive in this role if you have:Strong engineering background with proven experience in sustaining, development, or continuous improvement engineering.Ability to manage complex workloads with autonomy.Experience mentoring or reviewing work of other engineers.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver solutions to technically challenging issues.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Eligibility and Right to WorkExpleo is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
