Before applying for this role, please read the following information about this opportunity found below.
The Role
This is a senior, group-level appointment for an experienced surveying professional who wants to move beyond project delivery and into strategic leadership.
You will provide technical direction and governance across a multi-entity engineering business, ensuring structural and geospatial surveying services are delivered to a consistent, high standard. While operational teams sit within individual business units, you will oversee capability, performance, and best practice from a central position.
Working alongside executive leadership, you will ensure surveying expertise underpins operational performance, risk management, and future growth.
There is significant scope to develop the function further, including establishing a more centralised capability as the organisation continues to expand.
DUTIES
- Provide strategic technical oversight across multiple business units
- Develop and embed consistent standards, processes, and reporting frameworks
Act as the escalation point for complex or high-risk technical matters
Contribute to bid strategy and technical submissions for major opportunities
Identify service enhancements and additional revenue opportunities
Review utilisation, performance metrics, and commercial outputs
Conduct technical assurance reviews to maintain quality and compliance
Build strong working relationships with directors and senior operational leaders
Candidate
We are seeking a senior surveying professional who combines deep technical knowledge with commercial awareness and leadership credibility.
Chartered status with a recognised professional body such as IStructE, CICES, RICS or equivalent
Bridge inspection certification (or willingness to obtain shortly after appointment)
Extensive background in structural and/or geospatial surveying
Demonstrable experience leading established teams and improving technical performance
Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and industry frameworks, including RICS guidance, CDM, and HSE standards
Proven ability to implement and uphold technical standards
Experience supporting tenders or contributing to business development initiative
Why Consider This Position?
This role offers you:
Strategic influence at senior leadership level and the opportunity to shape technical direction across a complex organisation
A platform to make measurable operational and commercial impact
