Salary: £26,000 - £35,000
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, including shifts, sleep-ins and weekends
We are recruiting for a Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential service in Wallasey, Wirral.
This is an opportunity to join a supportive and growing care provider committed to creating safe, nurturing and stable homes for children and young people with complex needs. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes while working as part of a collaborative and child-centred team.
The Role
You will support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the effective day-to-day operation of the home, helping to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance. You will lead by example, contribute to a positive team culture and help provide a safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Support children and young people in line with care plans, risk assessments and therapeutic approaches
* Promote a safe, stable and nurturing home environment
* Key-work young people and maintain accurate records and daily logs
* Contribute to development plans and positive outcomes for children in placement
* Work closely with colleagues and external professionals to meet care needs effectively
* Support safeguarding, health and safety, medication processes and statutory compliance
* Assist with audits, inspections and quality assurance activity
* Help maintain a clean, homely and well-managed environment
* Attend meetings and act as an advocate for young people where needed
* Support the wider team with administrative tasks, record-keeping and budget responsibilities such as petty cash.
Requirements
Essential
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development and trauma-informed care
* Excellent communication, organisational and teamworking skills
* Experience supporting children with SEND or complex behavioural needs
* Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and quality assurance processes
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
* Willingness to work towards Level 5 Leadership & Management.
