Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)
G&P Quality Management Ltd. is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to provide on-site and supplier-facing quality support for a high-performance automotive OEM. This role is focused on issue containment, fault identification, root cause validation, and supplier corrective action closure, supporting engine and engine component supply continuity.
3-6 month Contract | £28-30 per hour (Inside IR35)
Key Responsibilities
Identify, assess, and manage supplier quality issues impacting engine and engine component supply.
Lead and coordinate containment activities (supplier, in-house, and customer) to protect production.
Review, challenge, and conclude supplier 8D submissions, ensuring robust root cause, corrective, and preventive actions.
Support and verify inspection activities, including interim inspection, sort, and rework where required.
Assess supplier response effectiveness and escalate risks where resolution is inadequate or delayed.
Work closely with OEM engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality concerns.
Maintain accurate quality records, issue trackers, and reporting to support governance and escalation.
Experience & Knowledge
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an SQE within the automotive sector.
Strong experience with engines and engine components (machined parts, assemblies, or related systems).
Hands-on experience managing non-conformances, containment, inspection, and corrective action at supplier level.
Solid working knowledge of 8D problem-solving, root cause analysis, and verification of effectiveness.
Understanding of automotive quality standards and tools (IATF 16949 awareness, APQP/PPAP fundamentals).
Confident communicator, able to challenge suppliers and engage effectively with internal stakeholders.
Location & Availability
Based within 45 minutes of the Hams Hall.
Able to support on-site activity and supplier visits as required.
Candidate Profile
A practical, delivery-focused SQE with strong shop-floor credibility, capable of stabilising quality issues quickly and driving suppliers to effective, sustainable resolution. The role requires decisiveness, technical confidence, and a hands-on approach to protecting production and supply.
