About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Subcontract Supply Chain Manager to join our Enabling Functions - Procurement team based in Canary Wharf or any UK office.

The Group Subcontract Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the strategic relationship management, development, and integration of key subcontractors across Group. This role acts as the primary interface between Group Supply Chain Management and the Strategic Business Units (SBUs), ensuring subcontractor capabilities are aligned with business needs and embedded into project pipelines.

Please note: Regular travel to BB and subcontractor offices/sites is required.

What you'll be doing

As a Subcontract Supply Chain Manager, you'll:

• Strategy development. Act as the strategic relationship lead for selected Group subcontractors, ensuring alignment with Group and BU priorities.
• Lead the integration of subcontractors into BU pipelines, supporting early engagement and capability promotion.
• Facilitate regular business 2 business updates and performance review meetings with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Implement and manage the Triple A framework; Assessed, Assured and Aligned to improve subcontractor performance across quality, safety, sustainability, and commercial metrics.
• Identify and escalate issues or opportunities where Group-level intervention can support resolution or unlock value.
• Promote subcontractor innovation, capability development, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
• Collaborate with SBUs to ensure subcontractor strategies are embedded in project delivery and procurement planning.
• Monitor subcontractor capacity, performance trends, and market developments to inform strategic planning.
• Support the development of subcontractor assurance and risk tiering processes in collaboration with the wider supply chain team.

• Analytical Skills and Commercial Awareness : Excellent analytical skills with strong commercial awareness, enabling informed decision-making.
• Pragmatic Approach : Ability to adopt a pragmatic yet disciplined approach to process compliance.
• Professionalism and Integrity : Independent worker with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
• Teamwork : Effective team player with strong collaborative skills.

Desirable :

• Previous experience in Supply Chain Management : Experience in leading supplier development or integration programmes.
• Commodity Materials Category Management : Experience in managing commodity materials categories, ensuring best value procurement.
• Professional Development : CIPS qualified or currently studying towards CIPS.
• Procurement experience : Experience within procurement, managing budgets of up to £5 million.
• Compliance : Demonstrated ability in process compliance, achieving adherence to processes
