The firm’s Construction practice is involved in many of the country’s most high-profile infrastructure, energy, real estate and regeneration schemes.The role offers the chance to move beyond providing technical expertise and to become a genuine strategic adviser to clients delivering complex, real‑world projects.The opportunityThe successful candidate will join a leading Construction & Projects practice acting for:Developers, funds and institutional investorsMajor contractors and specialist sub-contractorsGovernment bodies and local authoritiesUtilities, energy and infrastructure businessesUniversities, health boards and other public sector organisationsThe team’s work spans:Major commercial and residential developmentsInfrastructure and transport projectsEnergy (including onshore and offshore renewables)Education, health, and urban regeneration schemesRefurbishments and complex fit‑out projectsThe solicitor will advise on the full lifecycle of a project – from procurement strategy and risk allocation, through drafting and negotiation, to project delivery and dispute avoidance.Typical work includes:Drafting and negotiating standard form and bespoke building contracts (e.g. SBCC, NEC, FIDIC, JCT and ancillary documentation)Professional appointments, collateral warranties, guarantees and bondsDevelopment agreements and forward funding structures with construction interfacesOperation and maintenance, facilities management and related commercial contractsWorking alongside colleagues in real estate, energy, finance and planning on multi‑disciplinary transactionsWhy this role?Real influence on major projectsThe successful candidate will work on transactions that change city skylines, upgrade critical infrastructure and support Scotland’s energy transition, seeing the direct impact of their advice in the built environment.They will advise sophisticated UK and international clients within a tight-knit, supportive team that values collaboration over hierarchy, working directly with market‑leading partners committed to their development.Genuine career progressionThere is a clear pathway for advancement, with transparent criteria and active mentoring.
