Overview
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Stores Operative to join a busy stores department within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role within a small team, supporting goods-in, dispatch, and stock control activities.
The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Check incoming goods against delivery notes within agreed timeframes
- Book in deliveries and update stock on internal systems
- Pick, pack, and dispatch goods in line with purchase orders
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient stores area
- Raise documentation/invoices for outgoing deliveries
- Carry out regular stock takes and maintain accurate inventory records
- Issue materials to production teams
- Support continuous improvement of processes and workflows
- Assist in producing weekly/monthly performance and stock reports
- Provide support to the cutting department during peak periods or absences
About the Role
- This is a physically active position, involving manual handling and lifting (within reasonable limits). A good level of fitness is required to carry out daily tasks safely and effectively.
- You will play a key role in ensuring stock accuracy, operational efficiency, and smooth workflow across departments.
About You
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or stock control role
- Familiarity with inventory systems (e.g. ERP or SAP)
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
