A specialist SEN school in Islington is seeking a Speech and Language Assistant to support pupils with complex communication needs. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience using Makaton, PECS and British Sign Language (BSL), looking to build long-term experience within a specialist setting.

Speech and Language Assistant (SEN) The Role Support pupils with severe and complex communication needs on a 1:1 and small group basis Use Makaton, PECS and BSL daily to support expressive and receptive communication Assist in delivering speech and language interventions set by therapists and SEN professionals Support pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication needs and additional learning needs Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, SENCOs and specialist teaching staff Encourage communication, engagement and independence across the school day Speech and Language Assistant (SEN) Ideal Candidate A graduate in Linguistics, Psychology, Education or a related field, or an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant Proven experience using Makaton, PECS and/or ...
