The Opportunity Edinburgh College of Art is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable creative technologist who enjoys hands‑on work with digital development. If you have considerable experience of creative electronics projects, development boards, and have developed using C++ and Python, we want to hear from you. A keen interest or experience with other languages, IoT, soldering or robotics is highly desirable. You will support a range of cutting‑edge technologies in our workshops, helping staff and students across disciplines. Key Responsibilities
Support students and staff with teaching, research and imaginative project work across a broad range of disciplines. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for creative electronic projects, development boards, IoT devices, soldering and robotics. Produce high‑quality documentation and learning material for students and staff, using diverse delivery methods. Work closely with the wider ITTS Digital Making Team, pushing technology limits to bring imagination to reality. Ensure health and safety within busy technical workshops, with students as the primary users.
Skills and Attributes
Demonstrable in‑depth technical knowledge and experience of relevant processes and equipment. Inquisitive attitude and desire to learn new skills and technologies. Proven ability to present technical ideas and concepts to audiences with varied skill levels. Strong grasp of health and safety aspects in technical workshops. Ability to produce high‑quality documentation and learning material.
