Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant - Therapeutic SEMH School - Thanet

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant confident in theraputic practice to join a highly supportive, therapeutic school in the Thanet area. This specialist SEMH school provides a safe, structured and therapeutic environment for pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. Staff work collaboratively using trauma-informed and child-centred approaches, ensuring every young person receives personalised care and education that helps them thrive-academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs Build positive, trusting relationships with students Implement therapeutic strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and behaviour Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff Assist in delivering creative, engaging learning activities Help create a calm, consistent, and encouraging learning environment Coordinate with staff to implement, lead and adapt theraputic approachesWhat we're looking for

Experience supporting children or young people with SEN-particularly SEMH (desired but not essential) A patient, empathetic, and resilient personality Ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure Strong communication and relationship-building skills A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning Willingness to learn therapeutic and trauma-informed practices** Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students

** £90 - £100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
