*We are looking for a talented and motivated *Sous Chef* to join our team at Twelve. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality, efficiency, and team performance. You’ll have the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills while helping mentor junior chefs and ensuring a smooth and seamless kitchen operation.
*Kitchen Leadership:* Assist in managing the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to junior chefs, and ensuring that all kitchen staff are working efficiently and to the highest standards.
* *Menu Execution:* Oversee the preparation and cooking of dishes, ensuring consistency in quality, taste, and presentation. Help implement new dishes or seasonal menu changes as directed by the Head Chef.
* *Quality Control:* Ensure that all food leaving the kitchen meets Twelve’s standards for flavour, presentation, and portioning. Be vigilant about the quality and consistency of every dish, and address any issues as they arise during service.
* *Stock & Inventory Management:* Work with the Head Chef to manage kitchen stock, ensuring that ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and rotated. Assist with ordering and stock control to minimise waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
* *Health & Safety Compliance:* Ensure that all health and safety standards, including food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures, are strictly followed in the kitchen.
* *Team Collaboration:* Foster a positive and productive working environment, encouraging teamwork and communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure the smooth flow of service.
* *Training & Development:* Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, providing them with the skills and knowledge to grow within the team. Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to enhance the team’s performance.
* *Assist Head Chef:* Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including recipe development, stock ordering, staff scheduling, and ensuring the kitchen is running smoothly during service.
* *Service Support:* Ensure that dishes are prepared efficiently and to the highest standard during busy periods, stepping in to help any section as needed.
*Proven experience as a *Sous Chef* in a high-end or Michelin-level restaurant, or a similar fine-dining establishment.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and consistency.
* A thorough understanding of health and safety standards, including food hygiene and sanitation practices.
* A creative mindset, with a passion for culinary excellence and the ability to contribute to the development of new dishes and menu items.
* Great communication skills and the ability to work well with other members of the team, both in the kitchen and with front-of-house staff.
