Role Overview
My clients Digital team sits at the forefront of the digital city and building transformation, helping organisations design and deliver intelligent, connected places. They are seeking a Solution Architect / Designer with strong experience across both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) to help deliver cutting-edge smart place initiatives.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile projects where digital systems meet real-world assets.
The Role
The Digital team supports clients through technology and information-led transformation, helping improve financial performance, environmental outcomes and social value.
Projects are diverse and may include:
Defining smart city technologies to enhance , worker or visitor experiences in large-scale urban developments Designing data-driven 3D digital twins to support net-zero carbon strategies Identifying technology-enabled revenue opportunities for major sports and entertainment venues Establishing data, governance, operating models and policies to enable secure, effective information management
All engagements are grounded in engineering and real-world asset expertise, combined with a strong sustainability and outcomes-focused ethos.
The team works across digital strategy, digital transformation, systems architecture, data and analytics. Consultants collaborate closely with designers, engineers, technologists and client stakeholders across multiple locations to deliver meaningful, real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day delivery of client engagements, structuring workstreams and overseeing execution Manage consulting workstreams using a plan-do-review approach, maintaining ownership of client relationships, team performance and wellbeing Translate client objectives into clear technical outcomes aligned with agreed proposals Design end-to-end smart place architectures integrating IoT, digital twins, data platforms, building systems and cloud services Convert business needs into technical designs, roadmaps and functional specifications Develop solution concepts, reference architectures and integration patterns for smart buildings, districts and campuses Lead technical discovery, requirements definition and stakeholder workshops Ensure solutions align with industry standards, cybersecurity principles and data governance best practices Oversee technical delivery including vendor assessments, design reviews, interface definitions and system integration Support and manage project teams to achieve delivery and personal development goals Contribute to business development by extending and deepening existing client engagements Continuously improve internal methodologies, tools, templates and training materials Coach and mentor team members as appropriate Act as a first line of quality assurance for project outputs and deliverables
Skills & Experience
Essential
Experience in digital architecture, strategy, transformation or system integration for smart places (cities, buildings, campuses or similar environments) Strong experience designing interoperable IT/OT systems, including applications, middleware and integration layers Knowledge of IoT platforms, cloud services, sensors, edge computing and data architectures Proven ability to lead consulting engagements with strong client relationship management Confidence engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly A relevant professional qualification in digital, technology or business disciplines is advantageous
Desirable
Experience in sport venues, large public spaces, smart districts or smart cities Familiarity with digital twins, real-time data platforms, analytics and automation Understanding of cybersecurity, networking and ICT infrastructure
