Job Description

The Opportunity

An early-stage, high-growth business operating in the micro-mobility space is looking to hire its first in-house Legal Counsel. The business is working closely with the UK Government, Transport for London and local boroughs to deliver private scooter infrastructure across the UK.

Backed by significant funding, the group operates across multiple entities (including a core operating platform focused on urban mobility) and has ambitions to take one of these entities public.

This is a rare opportunity to join at a formative stage, working directly with senior leadership and playing a key role in shaping the legal function from the ground up.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on role with exposure across commercial, corporate and operational matters.

You will:

  • Lead on a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier, partnership and infrastructure agreements
  • Support the rollout of UK operations, including permitting, employer agreements and operational legal matters
  • Manage entity-related legal work across multiple UK companies (England & Wales)
  • Oversee compliance and corporate housekeeping (working alongside external providers)
  • Provide day-to-day legal support across the business, including employment and general BAU matters
  • Work closely with external counsel where required, while building internal capability

The role will primarily support the core operating entity and its associated holding structure.

Candidate Profile

This role is suited to a junior lawyer looking to step into a broad, high-impact in-house position.

You will likely have:

  • 2–3 years’ PQE from a strong corporate and/or commercial background
  • Trained in private practice or gained early in-house experience
  • Strong drafting skills and commercial judgement

Key traits:

  • Ambitious and motivated by growth and progression
  • Proactive, with a willingness to take ownership
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a lean environment
  • Intellectually curious and coachable
  • Able to operate across multiple workstreams without being siloed
  • Open to leveraging technology and AI tools to improve efficiency

An interest in equity participation and being part of a scaling business is important.
