About the Company

I’m working with an exciting, mission-driven climate-tech startup that’s preparing to launch a category-defining platform, backed by three global financial institutions. They’re tackling one of the most urgent challenges of our time—helping businesses reduce their emissions and future-proof their operations—and doing so with practical, tech-driven solutions. Their focus is on enabling financial institutions and large organisations to support SMEs and supply chain partners in reducing operational risk, cutting carbon, and driving real commercial value. The platform is built around powerful data, automation, and enterprise integrations, and it’s designed to make deep decarbonisation both achievable and scalable. With a clear mission, strong financial backing, and a small, experienced founding team in place, they’re now looking for a hands-on Engineering Lead/Manager to help shape the product and build the foundations of the engineering team.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to join a business at the ground floor, working directly with the founding team to build and scale a high-impact SaaS platform. You’ll play a key role in both technical leadership and product development—owning everything from infrastructure decisions to feature design. The company’s engineering culture is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply aligned to business outcomes. They’re looking for someone who’s excited to work across the stack, comfortable making technical decisions in ambiguous environments, and motivated by real-world impact.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design, build, and deployment of core features across the platform
• Working full-stack—touching everything from intuitive UIs to backend systems and infrastructure
• Collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders to shape roadmap and priorities
• Championing high-quality, secure, and scalable code
• Taking ownership of key projects and mentoring future engineers as the team grows

Qualifications

This is a role for a hands-on, technically solid builder who’s motivated by impact and thrives in fast-moving environments. The ideal candidate will be full-stack by mindset, strong on fundamentals, and eager to contribute beyond their lane.

Required Skills

• Strong software engineering background with experience across front-end, back-end, and infra
• Curiosity and adaptability—a willingness to dive into any part of the stack
• Experience designing secure, scalable systems (SaaS, cloud-native, containerised environments)
• Ability to collaborate closely with non-technical stakeholders
• Clear communicator and independent thinker with a bias for action

Preferred Skills

• Early-stage startup or high-growth tech experience
• Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, modern component-based frontends, or SQL-heavy data workflows
• Interest in sustainability, climate, or ESG-related challenges

Pay range and compensation package

• Base salary up to £150,000 (depending on experience)
