The Software Development Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, support, and enhancement of software and automation systems used to operate laboratory instrumentation and manage data analytics related to site services. The role is critical in upholding world-class gas measurement capabilities by ensuring all measurement processes and data handling meet the highest standards of accuracy and integrity. Key Responsibilities Oversee the maintenance and development of automated software interfaces for gas chromatographs and other instrumentation within UK-based calibration and testing laboratories.
Maintain deep technical knowledge of relevant software and standard automation interfaces to support the creation of best practice documentation and protocols for use across service offerings.
Lead the design, commissioning, and testing of innovative measurement methods to enhance automation, increase efficiency, and maintain accuracy in calibration and testing workflows.
Create robust testing strategies and documentation for all software development activities, including automated testing tools, detailed test plans, and comprehensive reporting.
Ensure all internally developed software is properly documented, maintained, and updated in line with current engineering standards.
