Job Description
We've an exciting opportunity for an ambitious naval architect to join a multi-skilled consultancy in Southampton.
Approaching 5 years in business, this ambitious team have worked across a broad range of projects across the fishing, offshore and commercial spaces to design craft in composites and metallics. Now a team of 7, they offer a range of services to maritime businesses yet with a number of ongoing and new projects coming down the pipeline they're looking to appoint another naval architect to their team, tasked with taking on a number of concurrent projects.
Reporting directly to the business owner, the role will see you work on:
- Hull form development
- Structures - in either composites or aluminium
- Weight estimates and stability calculations
- Liaison with classification societies
- Creation of 3D and 2D CAD for production
In a candidate we're seeking a degree-educated individual with around 3-5 years experience. Ideally you'll have worked in a mixed-discpline consultancy mainly on smaller craft and have worked with aluminium or composite craft, showing a clear understanding of the characteristics of designing with these substrates and of the relevant regulations and classifications involved.
You'll have experience with Solidworks, Maxsurf and Autocad and be ambitious towards your own career growth.
