Reporting to: Contracts manager
Salary neg upon experience: £55-60,000
Location: Various UK sites
Our client is a family run business based in Hull. They provide bespoke solutions in pipework fabrication, installation and commissioning, structural steel fabrication, skid unit assembly, open tank fabrication, pressure vessel manufacture and engineering design predominantly to the Oik & Gas and refrigeration industries
The Role
The Site Supervisor is responsible for driving productivity and maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety on site. This role ensures the site team are clear on expectations, properly equipped, and consistently delivering work in line with the project programme and company quality standards.
Background & qualifications
* SSSTS and CSCS card (essential)
* Strong background in pipework and/or welding
* Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and apply them to site layouts
* Proven leadership skills — able to motivate teams and maintain productivity
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
* A proactive approach — you look ahead, plan, and make things happen
* Driving licence
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise site installation teams to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
* Ensure all equipment, pipe, fittings, gas, and access equipment are available before they are needed to prevent downtime or delays.
* Monitor and manage team performance, setting clear expectations on pace, quality, and output. Address underperformance promptly and fairly.
* Interpret P&IDs and site layout drawings, ensuring installation aligns accurately with both the design and physical site layout.
* Liaise confidently with the client’s site and project management teams, maintaining a professional relationship and demonstrating that our client is in full control of the work and programme.
* Identify and remove obstacles to progress – whether materials, coordination, or access – resolving directly or escalating quickly.
* Highlight potential extra works or site delays early to the Contracts Manager.
* Report progress daily or as required, providing honest, factual updates on productivity, issues, and resource requirements.
* Attend site meetings, representing the client professionally and proactively.
* To be responsible for signing on/off permit systems, whilst also issuing regular H&S documents (pre-user checklists, HAVS, MEWPS etc) direct to client
