Site Manager (Civils Infrastructure) - Durham/Darlington

Overview
I am seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of civil infrastructure works on new housing developments, including drainage and sewer installations, Section 278 highways improvements, and associated earthworks and utilities. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification, while maintaining effective communication with clients, designers, subcontractors and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations on site across multiple civil infrastructure workstreams
Oversee the installation of drainage networks, foul & surface water sewers, manholes and outfalls
Coordinate Section 278 works including road construction, kerbing, pavements, signals, junction tie-ins and traffic management
Ensure all works comply with technical specifications, design drawings, permits and adoptable standards (e.g., Highway Authority & Water Company)
Plan labour, plant, materials and subcontract resources to achieve programme commitments
Maintain stringent health, safety and environmental standards and drive a safety-first culture
Manage cost, quality and programme performance against targets
Interface with local authorities, utilities, developers and other stakeholders
Maintain accurate records, reporting, permits and site documentation
Lead site teams and subcontractors, resolving operational challenges proactively
Support testing, inspection, handover and adoption processes
Skills & Experience
Proven background in civil engineering project delivery, ideally in housing infrastructure, groundworks or developer enablement
Experience managing sewer infrastructure, drainage and S278 works is highly desirable
Strong understanding of adoptable standards, approvals and as-built requirements
Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
Confident in reading and working from drawings, specifications and programmes
Commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control and variations
Proficient in risk management, RAMS and site compliance documentation
Qualifications
HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
SMSTS (or equivalent)
CSCS Supervisor/Manager
NRSWA (supervisor) for S278 works preferred
First Aid Certificate
