Role Outline The Site Manager will take ownership of one of our key operational sites and lead a talented team of mechanical fitters and supervisors. Performing the ‘controller of premises’ role, you will ensure all safety and compliance obligations are met, as well as being a team leader and line manager for a team of eight. Health and safety, quality control and providing support, growth and development opportunities for the team, will be key areas of focus. You will also be the key point of contact on site for clients and play a role in resource planning and scheduling. Responsibilities
Line manage a team of eight, including personal development, growth & support, HR issues, timesheet reviews. Ensure compliance with GEL and client processes, procedures and health & safety regulations. Maintain permits and authorisations up to date (e.g., TOCOP). Lead and coordinate on‑site engineering tasks to deliver projects safely, on time and to specification. Manage day‑to‑day site activities, ensuring smooth operation and progress of works. Supervise and support site teams, including GEL fitters, subcontractors, and suppliers. Coordinate logistics, material deliveries, site access and permits. Assist Project Manager with project documentation, risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans and programmes.
Requirements
Proven experience in a Site Manager, Team Leader or Supervisory role within an engineering or construction environment. Ability to manage and motivate site teams. Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site practices. Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills. Relevant qualifications (e.g. SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS card, First Aid). Experience in water, utilities or mechanical engineering projects preferred. UK Driving Licence. Right to work in the UK on a permanent basis.
