Contract Scotland are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager or Senior Site Manager for an 18-storey concrete frame student accommodation development located in the heart of Glasgow city centre. This is a temporary contract position, initially for 3–6 months with potential to extend to the full 2-year project duration for the right candidate.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead site operations on a prestigious mixed-use development that will deliver 600+ student beds alongside significant commercial space, becoming a landmark regeneration project on one of Glasgow's most prominent thoroughfares.
The development comprises an 18-storey concrete frame building featuring contemporary student accommodation integrated with ground-floor retail and commercial units. The scheme incorporates restoration of a historic arcade link, combining new-build excellence with conservation-led design principles. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027–2028, backed by substantial institutional capital and delivered to the highest construction standards.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Day-to-day site management and supervision, ensuring all works comply with contract specifications, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
Managing subcontractors and labour coordination across all trades.
Liaising with the design team, client representatives, and professional consultants
Delivering the project safely, on time, and on budget
Maintaining comprehensive site documentation, progress reporting, and compliance records
Leading a culture of safety, quality, and professional excellence on site
Candidates should have
Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager on multi-storey new build residential or commercial developments
A strong track record managing complex projects with rigorous quality and safety expectations
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Full SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification, with up-to-date health and safety knowledge
Competence in contract administration and project documentation
Professional manner with the ability to operate in high-visibility, fast-paced environments
Flexibility to travel to and work on-site in Glasgow.
