Shunter / Class 1 Driver (C+E)

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are currently recruiting an experienced Class 1 (C+E) Shunter Driver for an ongoing night shift role within a busy parcel distribution yard operation. This is a long-term opportunity for a reliable and professional driver with yard and shunting experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely move trailers and tugs within a busy yard environment
• Follow site speed limits and traffic management systems
• Complete daily vehicle and equipment safety checks
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Report all damage, defects, or incidents immediately to supervisors
• Accurately record vehicle movements and yard activity logs
• Position trailers efficiently to support warehouse operations
• Assist with loading and unloading operations when required
• Support warehouse duties including stock checks and general housekeeping
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard at all times
• Report any security concerns or unauthorised access

REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence
• Valid Driver CPC card
• Previous shunter or yard driving experience preferred
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety in logistics environments
• Excellent spatial awareness and vehicle manoeuvring skills
• Ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Basic IT skills for logging and reporting
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks
• Flexible, reliable, and team-oriented approach
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
