Senior SharePoint & SQL SME – Birmingham – Permanent – Hybrid

About the Role
Viqu is partnering with a leading global law firm to recruit a Senior SharePoint and SQL Subject Matter Expert on a permanent basis. This role will focus on the ownership, optimisation and ongoing development of the firm's SharePoint and SQL platforms, spanning both on-premise and Azure cloud environments. You will play a key role in ensuring secure, resilient and high-performing services that support critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior SME for SharePoint and SQL platforms, providing expert technical leadership across on-premise and Azure cloud environments.

  • Lead platform upgrades, migrations, deployments and performance optimisation initiatives.

  • Manage and optimise SQL databases supporting SharePoint and wider business applications, including performance tuning and reliability improvements.

  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors and business stakeholders to design and deliver robust platform solutions.

  • Integrate SharePoint with SQL, SSO, MFA and Azure services to support secure and scalable architectures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex SharePoint, SQL and web platform issues.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers, promoting best practice and platform standards.

  • Maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles and CMDB records to support service continuity and governance.

  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to enhance platform performance, resilience and security.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience operating as a senior SharePoint SME across on-premise and cloud-based Azure environments.

  • Strong experience managing and supporting SQL Server environments, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.

  • Experience integrating SharePoint with SQL databases and Microsoft Azure services.

  • Solid understanding of SSO, MFA and identity integrations within Microsoft environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to operate at senior technical levels.

  • Proactive, analytical mindset with a focus on continuous service improvement.

  • Experience mentoring or leading technical team members.
