Position: Service Manager\n\nTeam: MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)\n\nContract: Locum\n\nPay Rate: £400 per day (Umbrella)\n\nLocation: Nottingham City Council\n\nSheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Nottingham City Council to recruit an experienced Service Manager to lead their Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is a critical leadership role within Children’s Services, responsible for ensuring effective front-door decision-making, robust safeguarding responses, and strong multi-agency collaboration.\n\nThe MASH plays a pivotal role in screening and responding to contacts and referrals, applying clear thresholds, and ensuring children and families receive the right intervention at the right time. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining high standards of practice and performance.\n\nWhat You Can Expect:\n\nA senior leadership role at the front door of Children’s Services\n\nOpportunity to shape safeguarding practice and decision-making\n\nClose partnership working with police, health, education, and early help services\n\nSupportive senior management structure\n\nA fast-paced, high-impact working environment\n\nDuties and Responsibilities:\n\nProviding overall leadership and management of the MASH service\n\nOverseeing the screening and triaging of contacts and referrals\n\nEnsuring timely, proportionate, and consistent safeguarding decisions\n\nManaging performance, quality assurance, and compliance with statutory timescales\n\nLeading and supporting Team Managers and practitioners within the MASH\n\nEmbedding effective threshold guidance and risk management processes\n\nChairing and contributing to strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings\n\nDriving continuous service improvement and responding to audit findings\n\nEnsuring high-quality recording, information sharing, and data integrity\n\nRequirements:\n\nSocial Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)\n\nSWE registration\n\nSignificant post-qualified experience within Children’s Services\n\nProven experience at Service Manager or equivalent senior management level\n\nExtensive knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including the Children Act 1989\n\nStrong understanding of MASH operations, thresholds, and multi-agency working\n\nExperience of performance management, quality assurance, and service development\n\nConfident leadership style with the ability to manage risk and make complex decisions\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior leader to make a real impact at the front door of a large local authority, with a competitive day rate and the opportunity to lead a high-profile safeguarding service
