Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer Stockport | Hybrid WorkingAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to join a well-established, award-winning building services consultancy based in Stockport. This respected consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable MEP design and works with high-profile clients across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial and public sector developments. The business is particularly recognised for its expertise in net zero and low-carbon building design, supported by advanced modelling and engineering software.Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are now looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their senior team and play a key role in delivering technically complex and meaningful projects.The Role As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead the electrical design and delivery of projects ranging from smaller specialist schemes through to major developments valued at £100m+. You will work closely with clients, manage multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business.Key responsibilities include:Leading the electrical design and delivery of projects across healthcare, education, commercial and public sector developmentsActing as a client-facing technical lead, managing both commercial and technical discussionsSupporting business development and helping secure new projectsManaging project planning, delivery and resource coordinationMentoring and developing junior engineers and techniciansSupporting teams on healthcare sector projects, including compliance with HTM and HBN standards where applicableCoordinating with other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projectsProducing detailed designs using IES / IES-VE, AutoCAD, MagiCAD and RevitEnsuring designs meet energy efficiency and net zero carbon requirementsAbout You The successful candidate will have strong experience within building services consultancy and be confident managing projects and client relationships. You will ideally have:BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or Building Services EngineeringChartered Engineer status (or working towards)Membership of a professional body such as MIET or MCIBSEIdeally IHEEM membership or experience working on healthcare projectsKnowledge of HTMs and HBNs, or transferable experience from sectors such as laboratories or cleanrooms5-10+ years UK design consultancy experienceExperience delivering new build, refurbishment and retrofit projectsStrong commercial awareness and project management skillsExcellent communication and client-facing abilityWhat's on Offer This consultancy offers a collaborative and supportive working environment with a strong focus on professional development and work-life balance.
