Senior Validation EngineerAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Validation Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne to join a highly visible, cross-functional engineering team supporting new product development and product continuation.This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in validation, verification, and compliance testing of power electronic systems, looking to work on cutting-edge technologies such as motor drives, SMPS, and DC-DC converters.About the Role in NewcastleAs a Senior Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that newly developed electronic products meet all regulatory and compliance standards, including CE marking and UL certification.You will work closely with hardware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams, as well as project and quality management, to deliver robust, compliant products.This role combines hands-on engineering work (test setup, debugging, building test rigs) with technical documentation and planning, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both practical and analytical work.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute Validation & Verification (V&V) test plans for new productsDefine and document test procedures, criteria, and compliance requirementsPerform testing on power electronic systems (motor drives, SMPS, DC-DC converters)Set up and configure test environments, equipment, wiring, and loadsConduct EMC, electrical safety, vibration, and IP rating testingAnalyse results and determine pass/fail compliance statusSupport certification processes including CE Marking, UL, and regulatory approvalsTroubleshoot and debug electronic circuits, PCB assemblies, and systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve designsLiaise with external test laboratories and certification bodiesProduce detailed test reports, traceability documentation, and compliance recordsIdentify and manage technical risks and support product release decisionsSupport continuous improvement of validation processes and test coverageSkills & Experience RequiredProven experience in a Validation, Test, or QA Engineering roleHands-on experience with power electronics systemsStrong understanding of EMC, electrical safety, and regulatory compliance testingExperience working with high-voltage DC systems (200V-800V) (desirable)Knowledge of switching power converters and circuit analysisExperience with design of experiments and structured testing methodsFamiliarity with ESD/EMC principles and best practicesStrong troubleshooting and debugging skillsExcellent organisational and documentation skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (ideally Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering)Provable experience in system-level validation or test engineeringKnowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, TS16949, or ISO 26262Familiarity with regulatory standards such as:EN1175EN13849UL 583EN12895Key CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilityExcellent communication (written and verbal)Proactive and self-driven approachAttention to detail and quality-focused mindsetAbility to work in a cross-functional engineering environmentAwareness of health & safety best practicesWhy Join This Engineering Team in Newcastle?Work on cutting-edge power electronics and advanced engineering systemsBe part of a highly collaborative and visible engineering functionGain exposure to global regulatory standards and certification processesCombine hands-on lab work with technical leadership and strategyOpportunities for career development and progressionIf you are keen and would like to find out more information on this Senior verification Engineer opportunity in Newcastle, please send over an updated cv to or call 01582 878839 for more details.JBRP1_UKTJ
