You will play a key role in maintaining momentum within a well‑established and growing book, providing confidence and reassurance to brokers while contributing to the profitable development of our US Casualty offering. Working closely with senior underwriting leadership, this is a highly visible role with genuine scope to shape underwriting outcomes, deepen broker relationships, and further develop your market profile within a collaborative, underwriting‑led environment. Your New Role
Underwrite US Casualty risks in line with the business plan, underwriting strategy, and personal authority levels Manage and develop strong broker and client relationships, acting as a trusted and credible market presence Contribute to the profitable growth and ongoing performance of the US Casualty portfolio Support and mentor junior members of the underwriting team, sharing technical expertise and market insight Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, controls, and all legal and regulatory requirements Maintain market and cycle awareness to drive informed underwriting decisions Actively contribute to the development of underwriting strategy, best practice, and knowledge sharing across the team Represent QBE positively in the market, promoting the International Casualty brand and value proposition
About You
Proven experience underwriting US Casualty business, gained within International or London Market context Clear technical underwriting capability with sound judgement and commercial acumen Experience operating with autonomy while collaborating effectively within a wider underwriting team Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills A proactive and collegiate mindset, with a willingness to support team development and knowledge sharing

Your new role This role supports business strategy through ownership of underwriting decisions, development of broker and client relationships, and active management of portfolio profitability and risk. Key responsibilities involve generating new business, retaining renewals, and ensuring the overall profitability of a specific designated book of business within QBE’s Specialty Credit and Trade Finance portfolio.
Support the development of the annual business plan for the portfolio and ensure delivery of the plan. Establish strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximise influence and achieve business objectives. Underwrite complex credit risks in accordance with the business plan and the agreed risk appetite. Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities. Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives. Contribute to the peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence. Apply the Reinsurance Strategy to safeguard the portfolio. Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency. Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate learning and development activities. Manage resources across the team to ensure business requirements are achieved.
About you
Significant experience within the Credit Insurance market, with strong technical knowledge of Non‑Payment Insurance and trade finance‑related credit structures. Deep understanding and experience of corporate credit analysis Excellent communicator, confident decision‑maker, and effective negotiator, able to balance commercial objectives with disciplined credit judgement. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a complex underwriting pipeline and competing priorities. A desire to continue developing a long‑term career within specialist credit and trade finance underwriting.
