With over 120 years of experience, HDI operates across five continents, around 40 countries and employs over 5,000 people worldwide.The roleTo underwrite Financial Lines business and develop lead market capabilities in accordance with underwriting guidelines and business plan.To externally promote HDI to broking houses, creating a network of supporting brokers providing client opportunities within appetite and also respond and develop new opportunities as they are presented.To consider opportunities to innovate with trusted broker partners and when identified build the business case for sponsorship.To develop the branch capabilities to write profitable Financial Lines business.Key accountabilitiesWork collaboratively on developing and maintain pricing tools for the FI lines of businessUnderwrite within guidelines and strategy to execute the development of a balanced portfolioMonitor and report back on the balance of the portfolio and any deviation from planMaintain and interpret management information, provide suggestions on any strategic changes and identification of trends that may affect adversely or positively the accountAssist Head of Financial Lines with strategy, planning and forecasting for the Financial Institutions portfolioPromote HDI externally to enhance brand reputation and become a recognised lead market in this sectorDevelop a trusted broker network to provide business opportunities, establish HDI as a viable primary lead and excess alternative market for FI business and promote HDI externally to clientsInternally create a network that can support the FI mandate and business plan, working with legal, compliance, actuarial and claims to provide the necessary support for these product linesIdentify and enhance the quality and value of processes for your area of workEnd to end project management for functional projects and contribute to any Branch wide projectsEstablish themselves as the product specialist for FI, mentor and train more junior or non-product specific underwriters about the coverage, risk selection and marketIdentify skills gaps and training requirements of the team.Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area within the function.Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessibleAdhere to all Local and Group guidelinesSupport all other functional activities as requiredSkills & experienceWell established market underwriter with a detailed understanding of the product and market within Financial LinesUnderstanding of the inputs required to create technical pricing and able to contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting toolsEstablished connections within the Financial Lines market to access the desired business partners and the identified client baseExperience in writing to a balanced portfolio and deep understanding of line size management and risk selectionStrong team ethic and self-motivating characterDesire to aid the development of more junior members of the team and demonstrate best practiceCalm and considered judgement even during peak trading periodsWe are also open to considering candidates for an Underwriter level position.OtherAs an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, recognising that a diverse and inclusive workplace is a creative and prosperous one.If you require support with your application, please contact UK&IRE_Recruitment@hdi.global #J-18808-Ljbffr
