Senior Transport Planner


Location: Felixstowe

Salary: Up to £55k


The Opportunity


A well-established and growing logistics operator is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their high-performing transport team.


This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing daily planning operations, managing drivers, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across major UK ports. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, supporting the planning team, and maintaining strong customer relationships in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee daily transport planning across key UK ports (including Felixstowe, London Gateway, and Southampton)
  • Manage vehicle allocation to ensure maximum utilisation, revenue, and service performance
  • Lead, support, and develop a team of planners and drivers
  • Ensure all operational issues are resolved efficiently and proactively
  • Manage VBS bookings and ensure accuracy across all port systems
  • Maintain strong communication with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Travel between depots as required to support operations


What We’re Looking For


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport planning (container / haulage preferred)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a senior or supervisory planning role
  • Strong knowledge of UK ports and VBS systems
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Strong communication and customer-facing ability
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • IT literate with experience in transport systems
