A growing transport consultancy is launching a new office in Bristol and is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional to contribute to a range of development projects while helping establish a new regional presence.
We are looking for candidates with around four to eight years' experience in transport development planning, either in consultancy or within a local authority, who are looking to take on increased responsibility and broaden their exposure to multi-disciplinary projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and technical contributions to Environmental Statement chapters
Using Junctions 10 and LinSig software to model and analyse traffic scenarios
Applying highway design standards such as MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20, and guidance from Active Travel England and Healthy Streets
Coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams on residential, commercial, retail, and leisure development projects
Supporting client engagement and building professional relationships with Highway Authorities
Assisting in project planning, monitoring budgets, and contributing to fee proposals
Mentoring and guiding junior staff, sharing knowledge and best practice
Skills and experience we are seeking:
Strong technical and analytical transport planning expertise
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present findings to clients and stakeholders
Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines across multiple projects
Membership (or progress towards membership) with TPS, CIHT, or CILT is desirable
This position provides the chance to work on a varied and stimulating portfolio of development projects while playing an integral role in building a new office from the ground up.
The consultancy supports staff development with formal training programmes, a bespoke mentoring scheme, and funding for two professional memberships.
