Role Summary Salary: dependent on experienceLocation: Leamington Spa – OnsiteContract: Permanent The Senior Test Rig Facility Design Engineer will lead the engineering, planning and installation of bespoke test rig facilities supporting prototype development, validation and testing activities. Operating within a highly technical environment, the Senior Test Rig Facility Design Engineer will take ownership of work packages across automotive and cross‑sector applications, ensuring delivery against time, cost and quality objectives. This Senior Test Rig Facility Design Engineer position requires strong mechanical design expertise, test methodology knowledge and proven experience in test rig installation within an automotive or related engineering environment. Responsibilities

Lead test rig installation work packages, ensuring delivery against agreed time, cost and quality targets Plan, manage and commission bespoke test rig installations, coordinating design teams, technologies, equipment and processes Interpret technical requirements and Development Validation Plans (DVPs) to ensure facility design and functionality meet project objectives Define instrumentation requirements aligned to project and testing needs Oversee component, system, transmission, driveline and vehicle testing activities, including specialist instrumentation and prototype component manufacture Provide technical guidance and direction to engineers and technicians Act as the primary technical contact for facility‑related enquiries Monitor project budgets, schedules and performance metrics Manage periodic facility maintenance schedules to ensure safety and legislative compliance Contribute to preparation of technical proposals and wider project planning activities

Requirements of the Role

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related discipline Strong understanding of fundamental engineering and mechanical design principles Proven experience in mechanical design or installation within the automotive sector Demonstrated experience in test rig or fixture installation Broad engineering knowledge of powertrain systems Experience managing technical projects and work packages Supplier management experience Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings Strong fault‑finding capability within automotive engineering environments Excellent project management, communication and presentation skills
