Role Overview

The Senior Technical Manager will support the Strategic Land Delivery Director and Strategic Land Planning Teams to ensure that strategic land projects are technically robust. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality technical input, acting as a key liaison between the Strategic Land and Divisional Technical teams to ensure consistency and best practice across all projects.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support Strategic Land planning teams and provide relevant reporting, including mentoring and managing junior staff
  • Ensure regular Design Team Meetings at an early stage of development with relevant consultants
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure planning applications for strategic land projects are accurate, compliant, and commercially sound
  • Review and advise on technical aspects of strategic land schemes, identifying risks and opportunities early in the process
  • Facilitate technical input from divisions into strategic land projects and planning submissions
  • Take new site information from Land and check it before committing to the drawing stage
  • Work closely with divisional commercial teams to ensure technical solutions are cost‑effective and aligned with project budgets
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably expected of the role

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience as a Senior Technical Manager/Technical Manager within a large volume company
  • Experience working at a senior level within the housebuilding industry in a technical/architectural function, running numerous projects simultaneously
  • Track record for effectively managing a high‑performing team
  • HNC/HND in a building related topic
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Current full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Methodical, conscientious, organised and delivers high standards
  • Ability to recognize problems and deal with them quickly and effectively
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Problem‑solving and delegation skills
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and quick adaptation to new systems

Working Conditions

Office‑based role with regular travel to development sites and meetings. Flexible in day‑to‑day duties and hours worked. Core hours as required.
