Overview
Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries – including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment, and Chemical Process – in the UK and internationally. As part of our team, you will play a central role in providing our clients with design support, verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Author to work on various projects across industries such as aerospace and defense, supporting the growth of our in-house capabilities. This role involves creating and updating technical publications according to industry standards. It is a hybrid role, mainly home-based, with attendance at our Wimborne or Bristol offices as required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support complex engineering documentation for Tier 1 OEM suppliers, including user guides, manuals, and technical publications.
- Research, interpret, and create textual data and images for technical publications, data modules, IPC, and CMM.
- Act as the point-of-contact and expert for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to ensure technical publication requirements are understood and integrated throughout the engineering development process.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure project delivery within budget and timelines.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering/support teams across the UK.
- Willingness to travel within the UK.
Skills / Qualifications
- Experience with desktop publishing software such as FrameMaker, Eagle, or Arbortext, and familiarity with SGML and XML.
- Proven aerospace engineering experience, preferably in a military context.
- Strong command of the English language, including Simplified English.
- Knowledge of S2000M and S3000L standards.
- Practical experience in mechanical engineering and technical authorship.
- Creation of technical illustrations is desirable but not essential.
