Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview

Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications in line with current standards and best practice
Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to develop practical and cost-effective structural solutions
Undertake structural analysis and design using relevant software and manual calculations
Oversee and coordinate project delivery, ensuring programmes, budgets, and quality standards are achieved
Attend site visits, inspections, and project meetings to monitor progress and resolve technical queries
Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, contributing to their ongoing professional development
Ensure compliance with relevant design codes including Eurocodes and British Standards
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and technical standards

Senior Structural Engineer Job Requirements

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering
Minimum 5-7 years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment
Strong experience in the design of building structures using materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
Proficient in structural design software such as Tekla Tedds, Robot, ETABS, or similar
Experience using AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit would be advantageous
Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and design standards
Proven ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
Experience mentoring junior staff or leading small teams
