Senior Software Engineer - Embedded & Application Software\n\nLocation: On‑site (UK)\n\nSalary: £60,000-£75,000 per annum\n\nJob Type: Permanent, On-site\n\nOur client is a leading technology company who is a leader in advanced automatic vehicle detection and classification (advanced detection systems) software, serving tolling and intelligent transportation markets globally. Their software underpins high‑performance vehicle classification systems that integrate multiple sensor technologies.\n\nRole Summary\n\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will take a technical leadership role in developing embedded and application software for mission‑critical advanced detection systems systems. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the evolution of both real‑time processing and higher‑level software.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n - Lead the design and development of complex software modules in C and C++.\n\n- Architect and optimize software for Linux‑based platforms.\n\n- Guide code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.\n\n- Mentor junior engineers.\n\n- Translate requirements into robust software.\n\n- Troubleshoot field issues and improve software quality.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\n\n- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.\n\n- Extensive experience in C/C++ development.\n\n- Deep experience with Linux system development.\n\n- Proven ability in complex system design.\n\nDesirable\n\n - Experience with ITS, traffic systems, tolling or similar domains.\n\n- Familiarity with sensor interfaces and real‑time data processing.\n\n- Expertise with build systems and test automation.\n\nIf you are looking to develop yourself in a highly rewarding and growing company, then this is the role for you
