This role is for a Software Engineer responsible for designing and developing scalable applications and services that interact with complex data systems. In addition to strong software development skills, the position requires the ability to analyse business and technical requirements, apply data literacy to design effective solutions, and ensure performance, reliability, and integration across enterprise platforms. Our company has been a long-time leader in deploying AI and advanced technologies to the legal market to improve productivity and transform the overall business and practice of law, deploying ethical and powerful generative AI solutions with a flexible, multi-model approach that prioritises using the best model from today's top model creators for each individual legal use case.Responsibilities:Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data solutionsDesign and develop complex database, reporting, and application components using Oracle and PL/SQLDevelop and support rules engines, integrations, and applications that underpin reporting processesWrite clear, efficient, and reliable PL/SQL and SQL code to support reporting and data delivery needsIdentify and suggest opportunities to streamline or simplify existing business or data processesApply and uphold best practices in code quality, performance, source control, and documentationContribute to system design across multiple platforms and ensure adherence to development standardsComplete complex bug fixes and enhancements as requiredParticipate in peer reviews and knowledge sharing within the teamKeep abreast of new technology developments relevant to data engineering and analyticsAll other duties as assignedRequirements:Qualifications - 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on database and data-centric developmentVery strong PL/SQL development skills with proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database logicDemonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical environmentProven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable, and maintainable database or reporting solutions.Technical Skills- Expert-level proficiency in PL/SQL (required)Experience with Oracle APEX (nice to have)Ability to write sensible, efficient, and robust SQL queries following best practicesBasic database design knowledge, including schema design, indexing, and query structureFamiliarity with integration development and data flows across multiple systemsExperience working with source control systems (e.g., Git) and applying development best practices across the software lifecycleAbility to perform basic business analysis, including gathering, understanding, and interpreting reporting and data requirementsAwareness of business process efficiency and ability to identify opportunities for simplification and improvement through better design or automationAdvanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to learn and apply new technologies independentlyWhy Join Us?Join our team and contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
